MUSAWO GROUP

Social Enterprises Built to Heal Uganda.

Musawo Group is the commercial arm of the Musawo ecosystem, a collection of social enterprises that deliver quality healthcare, train the next generation of health workers, and fund free community care. These are businesses built for a purpose larger than profit.

Our Roots

Musawo Group’s founding enterprise: Musawo Clinics — traces its origins to ADFA Medicare Services Ltd, a clinic that opened in Lungujja, Kampala in 2021.

Built by the same team that founded Musawo Foundation, it proved from the start that community-centred care could be both compassionate and commercially viable.

It also proved that a for-profit health business, run with the right values and the right structure, can fund free care for those who could never afford it.

That insight became the foundation of Musawo Group. Today, ADFA Medicare Services operates as Musawo Clinics and it is the first of a growing portfolio of social enterprises under the Musawo Group umbrella.

What Is Musawo Group?

Musawo Group is the commercial parent of Musawo’s social enterprises. It holds and governs the for-profit businesses that sit alongside Musawo Foundation in the broader Musawo ecosystem.

We call them social enterprises — not because they are charities, but because profit is not their only purpose. Every Musawo Group entity is bound by a commitment that over 20% of its revenues goes directly to Musawo Foundation, funding free medical camps, home patient visits, health education campaigns, and student scholarships.

The commercial side funds the community side. The community side gives the commercial side its reason for existing.

The Model — Why It Matters

For close to eight years, Musawo operated without a single donation, grant, or outside funding. The community work was sustained entirely by revenue from the commercial side.

That is what makes Musawo structurally different from most health organisations in Uganda. Most NGOs and foundations face a central question: what happens when the donors leave? Musawo has already answered it. The enterprises keep going.

The community work keeps going. And because the businesses are healthy, the foundation is protected.

Musawo Clinics

Our Social Enterprises

Musawo’s flagship healthcare delivery enterprise — quality outpatient and inpatient services, maternal health, diagnostics, laboratory, and surgical care.

  • Lungujja Clinic, Kampala — flagship facility, licensed as a Health Centre IV with a fully functional surgical theatre.
  • Mobile Clinic — bringing care to elderly, housebound, and hard-to-reach patients through home visits.
  • New Physical Clinic — under development, scheduled to open August 2026.

Every Musawo Clinic is also a training ground for tomorrow’s health workers, and a source of referrals for the community programmes of Musawo Foundation.

Musawo Training Center

Uganda needs more trained, compassionate health workers. Musawo Training Center is building them.

The Training Center runs certified courses in home care, caregiving, and community health — accredited by Uganda’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Sports.
  • Home care and caregiver workforce training
  • Accredited by Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Sports
  • 87+ community health workers trained to date
A portion of tuition and institutional contracts flows directly to Musawo Foundation, sponsoring students who cannot fund their own training.

A Word for Donors and Partners

One of the most important questions a donor or partner asks before committing to a health organisation is: will this work continue if support dries up?

Musawo has already lived the answer. For close to eight years, not a single outside donation was received. The community work continued. The clinics ran. The training programmes operated. The outreaches happened.

That is what Musawo Group makes possible. When donors and partners do come — and we welcome them — they are not rescuing a struggling charity. They are adding fuel to a vehicle that is already moving.

We do not need foreign aid to survive. But with it, we can scale faster, reach further, and bring quality healthcare to communities that are still waiting. Your support is not a lifeline — it is an accelerator.

For Investors & Institutional Partners

Musawo Group is a structured commercial entity with clear governance, operating subsidiaries, and a track record of sustained growth without external funding.

It is the right entry point for investors and institutional partners who want meaningful health impact alongside credible commercial operations.

If you are an investor, a corporate CSR partner, a development finance institution, or a health-sector organisation looking to align with a proven, community-rooted enterprise in Uganda, we welcome the conversation.
