Our Founder's Story

MUSAWO was born from the extraordinary journey of its founder, Dr. Mathius Ssenyondo. Delivered in a banana plantation in Maddu, Gomba District, with only his grandmother’s hands to assist, his difficult birth left lasting marks but ignited an unshakeable purpose.

His father’s desperate plea during that birth—”pull the baby out to save the mother”—became the spark that would drive Mathias to dedicate his life to helping others in their most vulnerable moments

Perseverance Through Adversity

Despite poverty and obstacles, Mathias’s intelligence kept him at the top of his class. Every educational advance depended on bursaries, scholarships, and a community that refused to let his potential fade.

After graduating from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in 2016, his work at Rubaga Hospital and later in Lungujja revealed the wide gap between patients and quality healthcare—a gap that MUSAWO exists to close.
